For all of you who don't know, I recently deployed again to Afghanistan with a contracting company to be an intelligence analyst. Before any of you hate on me for leaving Hillary once again, she agreed to me taking this job in the first place and knew that the deployment would be in the near future... she just didn't realize how fast that future came. However, this time is a little different. There won't be any pictures of me shooting rockets, or camping up in the mtns with goats, or naked santa (ok, that might happen again... Santa did love coming to AF). Actually, there probably won't be any exciting pics, only those of the base I will be stationed at and anything that goes on there. I'm not even issued a weapon on this deployment, so I will not be going off the base (I promised Hillary I wouldn't). This deployment I'm basically reading a bunch of reports and putting products together, specifically geared toward the IED (Improvised Explosive Device) fight. The organization that I'm with is specifically geared to fighting the IED fight here in AF, since that is the number one killer to Coalition Forces here in AF. Unfortunately, I can't be detailed in the things I do once again. When you're in the intelligence world, it's best just to leave things unsaid.
I had the option of heading back to where I was previously stationed at (Khowst Province), but I opted for a new opportunity in going to a little smaller base in Logar Province. I'll be there in approx 2-3 weeks after I complete some training here at Bagram. So really, I'll only be in my area for approx 5 months, then back to DC to continue my job. Hillz and I are crossing our fingers that the FBI will have made a decision by then and will send me to their Special Agent Academy down in Quantico, VA. I'll keep you all posted.
As for now, it's back to the daily grind of working 12 hours, working out, eating this nasty cafeteria food (yeah, being a foodie isn't the best here), and trying to sleep in a tent full of 100 dudes. Heaven right? Can't wait for these 2 weeks to be over.
Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. BTW, Hillary is moving back to Utah to stay with her mom for most of the deployment. But I'll let her update you since she's a good blogger now. Love you all.
